Third Person
  • I always struggle with Sundays.  I want to spend the day with the Lord but with working Sunday mornings I always miss morning service.   I do go to Sunday evening service but it just not the same.  I have come up with a plan to still get my Time in with the Lord on Sunday mornings.  We are very slow on Sundays so I have began to bring my Bible and started studying my bible study.  Right now I am working on Experiencing Spiritual Intimacy by Christa Kinnde.

This weeks Chapter 5 Bible study is THIRD PERSON.  “In the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19  Clearing the cobwebs question Is Do you know someone who always works faithfully behind the scenes?  I know so many but a handful of them come to mind right away.  I belong to two wonderful group called Moms of Faith and Women of Faith.  There I have found so much friendship and fellowship but more then anything they are always working behind the scenes.  They are always praying for you and just making the site a great place.  Do you have anyone you know that works behind the scenes?

As the Bible study goes on we begin to talk about The Father He is most important, The son He is every-ones favorite, he calls us friends.  Then there is the Holy Spirit.  Is He in third place because He is less important?  The Holy Spirit is somewhat taken for granted.  He does so much in our lives and things just seem to get done.  What is the Spirit’s role in a believers life?

Very early off in the bible The Spirit is mentioned.  “The earth was without form, and void and darkness was on the face of the deep.  And The Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.” Gen. 1:2

“And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from Heaven which said, ‘You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleases’” (Luke 3:22) So right here we see all Three Persons of the Trinity together again. Jesus being baptized, The Spirit as a Dove, and Father speaking from Heaven.

There are things we can learn about the Holy spirit from Word.

God is worshiped in the Spirit. Philippians 3:3

By the Spirit, the Gospel is preached. 1 Peter 1:12

The Spirit moved men to prophesy. 2 Peter 1:21

The Spirit gave utterance for speaking in tongues. Acts 2:4

The Holy Spirit witnesses to us. Hebrews 10:15

Power is according to the Spirit. Romans 1:4

And the list goes on.  So many times in our lives we seem to put The Holy Spirit last. But The Holy Spirit works very hard in our lives.  The Holy Spirit is Truth.  Even Jesus says so.  It is so hard to be thankful for what The Holy Spirit is doing in your life when you are not even sure what that work is?  The Holy Spirit is always working in us and always has His hands in us.  We can not pick just one thing The Holy Spirit is working on in us because just like God and Jesus, The Holy Spirit does just as much work for us, with us and in us.

I have really sat down and pondered this weeks study.  I too have not been always Thankful for the Holy Spirit.  I have not always praised The Holy Spirit when I am praising The Lord and His Son.

    Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for all things you have done.  Thank you for Your Son Jesus Christ. Thank you for The Holy Spirit.  I ask that the Holy Spirit help me as I pray because I know that is one of the things You are best at.  Holy Spirit Thank you for all the work You have done in my life and all the work You will do in my life.  Please help me to keep my eyes and ears open for signs of Your Hands at work.  Give me an awareness of The Spirit’s working in my heart and Life.  I ask that You help me to take nothing for granted.  You are great and almighty and I love you with all my Heart. I thank you for all those wonderful women that I have come to know through you that does all the behind the scene work for me and my fellow sisters in Christ. Bless and watch over these women as they go about their week. In the Name of the Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit.

    Amen
