Goodies, Going Green, And Giveaway!!!

SunChips GiveAwayI don’t blog much about food except for maybe when it is Menu Planning Monday but I never go into much detail.  But if you have ever eaten with my family you will know that we have to have chips with everything.  Every meal even breakfast sometimes.  For a while I was a little worried about how much salt and everything else we were putting into our bodies every meal.  Then we tried sunchips and I was in love.  They are good for you and they are just awesome.

Recently I found out that SunChips has become even better.  SunChips have joined with National Geographic to make the world a better place.  And the first thing they are doing is giving way a $20,000 grant to five people or groups with compelling ideas for green change.  All you have to do is go to and submit your idea by June 8, 2009 for your chance to be one of the five lucky groups or people.

You may wonder what step Sunchips is taking to go green.  They are creating a fully compostable snack chip bag made from plant-based materials be early next year.  That is awesome so then as I eat my wonderful Sunchips I can also know that my bag is going to be fully compostable. WOOOO HOOO!!!!

And to make this even more fun Gardner’s Have The Best Dirt is offering one of our awesome readers  a awsome gift package containing two bags  of SunChips this cool new  new organic shopping bad from ECOBAGS®!

All you have to do is leave me a comment on what you have done this year to go green, or what you are planning on doing to go green.  I will choose one random winner on June 8th.  This is open to U.S addresses only.

  2. Melinda says:

I have started unplugging appliances that aren’t in use, shutting down the computers at night, tvs off when not being watched, watching how much water we use, making sure lights are turned out when not in use. I also try to use green cleaning products in my cleaning business. Better for me, better for the environment!

  3. I have started using the reusable grocery bags…or find other uses for the plastic/paper ones when I get those at the grocery stores. I have also switched all our light bulbs to the energy saving type.

  4. We separate all our recyclables with the neighbors and take them to the community recycling area each week. We also shower as little as possible to save water lmao. Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

  7. We have really ramped up our recycling this year, as well as using reusable grocery bags. Something else we have given a go at is our own garden and eating more fresh fruits and vegetables. That means less packaging.

  8. I’ve given up paper towels this year in lieu of reusable sponge cloths. It’s been going well so far, and I do keep some paper towels on hand for cat vomit and other gross stuff. But we’ve had the same roll since January!
